What Should I Eat? Ummmm…NOT THIS!

My diet has been fluctuating during post-op and since being diagnosed with gastroparesis. In addition my doctor has requested I consume more salt and eat soft foods to help with digestion.
I try to eat at home as much as possible however, we are used to getting food that is low in salt if not salt free. If I add salt, it tastes weird to me. What do I do?
Usually if we get food to bring home I will try to get grilled or healthier options. Some grilled chicken is out if it is too fry (typically is). Leafy raw vegetables are out along with raw fibrous veggies.
One thing I found that is soft and loaded with salt is a regular bean burrito from Taco Bell. I cannot eat as much as I used to so usually one fills me up…until I saw the video.
The video was titled “How we make refried beans at Taco Bell.” I was like duh you just open a big ole can or put the bag of beans in hot water. WRONG! The picture at the beginning of this post, includes refried bean pellets that are Re-hydrated by mixing with water turning it into bean paste. I immediately tried to think when was the last time I found a solid (or half solid) bean in my burrito from Taco Bell. Never. I was confused and perplexed.
I have not eaten another one or anything containing beans since. (From Taco Bell)
Now I know many of you may be thinking “if Matt knew how most fast food was made he wouldn’t eat it.” This is correct to a point. I am fascinated how they make this “food” focusing more on efficiency to get it out the door than the nutritional value and taste.
