A lot going on over the past week. Get your strawberry bagel and hazel cream cheese and let’s dive in!

My knee is slowly healing from the fall last week and doing much better. On occaision I still get a little dizzy but it does not happen as much as it has. Also, changed my diet up a bit and had labs drawn this past Monday and I am about to go through some changes.

The Diet

Due to the problems I have been having with gastroparesi, I previously limited myself to Kraft Mac & Cheese, pasta with tomato sauce, graham crackers and grits with biscuits. I know it doesn’t sound the healthiest diet but all of these items are soft and very easy for me to digest with no real assistance from meds.

Another challenge I have been having is keeping hydrated. I have had bathroom challenges for almost a week. I am drinking three liters of Smartwater a day. i also finally ventured into eating more solid foods. First up? I have suspended my personal boycott of Chik-fil-a because they were the only place at the time we could find a grilled chicken sandwhich. All it had on it was tomato and mayo and was quite yummy. Last night I tried thin crust cheese pizza and did ok. Soon we will have our house situated and will cook mostly at home. Can’t wait to use the air fryer.

I need to get on track food-wise as I am srill losing weight too fast. Before transplant I was 326 and I am currently 265. Still 6’5” though. Ha ha ha

Not so fun food fact: From now on I list limit my intake of leafy and high fiber vegetables.

Labs

My labs came back with mixed results this go around. My white blood cell count has dropped. Also, my creatinine level is up from 1.4 to 1.9. My ideal goal is 1.0.

More tests tomorrow. Speaking of tomorrow…I finally have my consultation appointment for my gallbladder procedure. It was supposed to be performed in Louisville however the folks at UK Transplant asked if we were ok, on our behalf, to negotiate with the Louisville GI to have it moved to UK in Lexington. This is fantastic news and finally feels like things are moving forward.

The Bad

I had a meeting with one of the transplant doctors (not my normal one) and he suggested that the gallbladder procedure may or may not solve all or some of the symptoms I am currently experiencing. I asked what it meant and he said it is possible I may have to deal with them for the rest of my life. Focusing on the positive that this will work.

Thats it for this week. If you have any questions, please “like” this post and comment below with your questions and comments.

Tired

It's hard to get motivated. I've become callous and numb. A day doesn't go by that I wish I wouldn't wake up. I'm tired. I'm always in...
