Feeling Normal?

How do you feel normal again? That is an excellent question. I feel as humans we tend to think that once we go through a medical procedure, we want to know when will we feel “normal” again?
I asked my doctor this once and he kind of looked at me for a few seconds and then began to speak. He said that what I have to understand is that when you (general) go through a major medical procedure, the doctors are there to help “fix” you and give you the best quality of life possible.
Does this mean that you will feel 100% like you used to? No guarantees. The first priority is to “fix” the problem. The second priority is to try to do it in a way to give you the best quality of life.
So, is what I am feeling today the new “normal?” Does that mean my quality of life can’t get better? No. I must be flexible and learn to adapt to the things I enjoy doing. I may have to enjoy them differently than I did in the past, but I can do it.
Don’t look at the past and focus on what you can’t do. Look towards the future and tell yourself, let’s see what I can do so I CAN do.
