Ashley's Take: The Final Countdown

2 days til transplant.

Tomorrow (Monday) at 8 am the UK Transplant Center will call to let us know if it is a go. Then Matt will hopefully have his last dialysis visit.

I say “hopefully” not just referring to a transplant delay, but that sometimes the new kidney needs a little help to jump start things. If that is the case, Matt and his new kidney will have to undergo dialysis for a bit longer AND why his chest catheter will stay in place until he is in the clear. So fingers crossed that all goes smoothly.

I am fortunate enough to take some time off to care for him over the next few weeks. I am grateful that I work for a company that offers Caregiver Leave as well as a substantial PTO accrual policy. I have been saving up as much as possible ever since we found out we were going down this path. Thank you Humana!

Lastly, Matt promised the girls we would take a trip once he is in the clear. And they get to pick…..any guesses on what Emma sold Lucy on?
