Challenges. They are everywhere.
With everything going on in my life, negative non-constructive criticism has been given to me in very small doses.
“Well, you seem to have a lot of energy.”
“When are you going back to work?”
“I guess you are pretty much recovered.”
“Glad to see you fully recovered.”
These are a few examples of what not to say or ask a kidney transplant patient in their eighth month of rehabilitation.
I push myself hard to get back to a normal life. Many times I push too hard and I have small setbacks. One question I get is about returning to work or if I am looking for a job.
I am unable work because currently my health does not allow me to make a consistent commitment. You may see my energetic Tik Toks and videos but what you don’t see is me doubling over in my bed with stomach cramps. These cramps are due to gastroparesis.
Having gastroparesis has thrown a huge wrench in my rehab. Since I cannot consistently process my food day to day, it affects how I process my kidney meds. It’s a challenge.
Why do you do videos and Tik Toks if you cannot work?
Doing my videos and Tik Tok’s give me purpose. I get great support from my followers and they are simply amazing. It allows me to do something where I feel like I contributing something and that something is my Disney experiences when I worked there.
They take a lot out of me.
When will you be totally back?
I do not know. Typically the healing schedule is one year.
I just have to take it day by day and continue to make adjustments as needed.
Hopefully getting the gastroparesis under control will help.
If you have any questions about the process, please feel free to ask. My username on Tik Tok is @sthooch.
